What turns up when the arithmetic of real manuscripts is recomputed and their bibliographies checked against eight bibliographic databases. Aggregated, anonymous data.
Every manuscript that passes through here leaves an anonymous record: how many test statistics it carries, how many can be recomputed, how many do not add up, and how many references appear in no bibliographic database at all. This is the aggregate.
What follows describes THE PEOPLE WHO USE THIS TOOL, not psychology or any other discipline. It is a self-selected sample: people arrive with a manuscript they want checked before submitting, so it skews toward work being revised and toward the errors being looked for. Every figure carries the number of manuscripts it is computed on.
Each figure is the share of manuscripts that…
Figures are only published above a floor of 100 manuscripts, so that a percentage means something; below it, the page shows no numbers. The floor lives in the database query itself, not in the page.
p values are recomputed in code from their test statistic and degrees of freedom, not by a language model. A test is "inconsistent" when the recomputed p does not match the published one within rounding, and "gross" when it also crosses the significance threshold.
References are looked up one by one in eight bibliographic databases, and one is only confirmed when at least two independent sources agree on title and authorship. "Not indexed" means it appears in none of them.
Effect sizes are checked against the F they come from, which is an exact identity: η²p = (F·df₁)/(F·df₁+df₂).
Only figures and closed labels are stored per manuscript. Not one line of the text, no title, no references, no journal name. Length is stored in bands rather than exactly, because an exact word count plus a date would make a particular manuscript identifiable.
