Review-it (review-it.ai), developed by Zaytrics in Adelaide, Australia, sells an AI peer review for research papers, proposals, theses, slides, CVs and cover letters: an overall score and a score per section, strengths and weaknesses, suggested fixes, a reference check and journal matches. On paper it does what Previum does, plus several document types I do not touch.
This page compares the two, and Previum is mine, so read it as written by an interested party. Everything about Review-it comes from its homepage, read on 6 October 2026: its prices, the feature lists of its plans and its FAQ. Prices change; check them on its site before deciding.
Breadth. Review-it takes research papers, research proposals, theses, presentation slides, CVs and cover letters, in PDF, DOCX or TXT. Previum reviews research articles; if what you need checked is a grant proposal or a slide deck, it is not the tool.
Volume. Its monthly plans review unlimited documents, so if you put several documents through every month, a subscription can beat paying per manuscript. And if what you want is for the tool to rewrite the weak passages for you, its “Fix” plans do that; mine deliberately does not.

You can see it work before paying. The Basic report is free with your account and gives you the finding that decides the review, with the sentence it objects to and the fix, plus your references checked against eight databases, your p values recomputed and the figures that contradict each other. Review-it charges from the first document.
The statistics are checked with code, not described by a model: every p value is recomputed from its statistic and degrees of freedom, means are run through GRIM and the N is followed across sections. Review-it does not declare anything of the kind. And the measure is public: our run on ReviewBench, 200 eLife papers against human reviewers and Reviewer3, is published with its JSON.

There is a real difference between a tool that tells you a paragraph does not work and one that hands you the replacement. If the replacement goes into the manuscript, you are submitting sentences you did not write and will have to defend in front of a reviewer. Many journals ask you to declare generative AI use in the writing: read your journal’s instructions for authors before deciding.
Previum stays on the side of comments: every objection, with the quote and the fix explained, in the margin of your own Word file. If what you need is the language corrected, that is a separate service, minimal changes returned as tracked changes that you accept or reject one by one, and it never touches numbers, statistics or references.

If you need several document types reviewed, or want the tool to rewrite for you, Review-it covers more ground. If you have a research article going to a journal and want to see real objections on your own text before paying, start with the Basic report here: it costs nothing, and you will know in minutes whether its objections land on your method and analysis or on generalities.
On 6 October 2026 its homepage listed Quick Review at $6.99 per document, Trio Review at $13.99 for three, Unlimited Review at $59 a month, Paper Fix at $13.99, Trio Fix at $24.99 for three and Unlimited Fix at $99 a month, with a yearly option. Check its site: prices change.
No. Its FAQ asks “Why is there no free trial for the document review tool?” and answers that the small fee helps maintain the quality of the service. Previum’s Basic report is free with your account.
It advertises a reference checker that flags fabricated citations, and the “References & Citation Checker” appears in the lists of its Paper Fix and unlimited plans. Previum checks every reference against eight databases, two of which must agree, already in the free Basic report.
Its site says documents are deleted after the review and are never used to train its models. Read the privacy policy of any tool before uploading unpublished work; ours is linked from every page, and the manuscript is not stored.
Previum: the Basic report is free with your account and gives you the finding that decides, references against eight databases and p values recomputed. The Professional report adds two simulated reviewers and an editor, every objection, and your Word file commented in the margin, as a one-off payment.
